- Freeplay Music: music, not sound effects (free for non-commercial use)
- FindSounds: free site where you can search the Web for sound effects and musical instrument samples
- Sounds related to water (free from UNESCO Collection)
- The Creative Commons search page lets you search for copyright-friendly content (images, text, sounds, etc.) from a number of search engines
- A list of all sites where you can search for CC licenced content is maintained on the Creative Commons site
Images on the web
Below are a few sites that your learners can use when looking for images.
Child-safe images (free of adult content)
- morgueFile contains free high resolution digital stock photography for either corporate or public use, e.g. search for "cape town"
- Pics4Learning is a copyright-friendly image library for teachers and students. The Pics4Learning collection consists of thousands of images that have been donated by students, teachers, and amateur photographers
- The Young Oxford Encyclopedia of Science includes many hundreds of superb illustrations that can be used by your learners
All images
- The Creative Commons search page lets you search for copyright-friendly content (images, text, sounds, etc.) from a number of search engines
- A list of all sites where you can search for CC licenced content is maintained on the Creative Commons site
- flickr is a huge library of photos submitted by everday users. Many of the photos are licenced under Creative Commons and can be used by your learners for free. Note: your learners should use the Advanced Search and check the "Only search within Creative Commons-licensed photos" box
- Google images is a source of images from across the web
- Stock.XCHNG is free stock photo site (need to register to download photos)
- FreeImages.co.uk is another free stock photo site

On the web there are many sources of information and curricula related to online safety, or cybersafety for youth in schools. Below is a selection of sources:
